Solar panels: ecology and economy
Solar panels: ecology and economy
Solar panels are made of suitably treated semiconductor materials where solar radiation hits, producing an electric field capable of generating a current. In short, sunlight converted into electrical energy.
When domestic use began, more than 25 years ago, our house, located in a remote village in rural Andalusia, was one of the first to access this solar panel system that covered the lighting needs, with eight low light bulbs. consumption, information, with a car radio and communication, with a wireless cell phone access.
These first autonomous teams of solar panels lost most of the energy they generated when the charge of the accumulators was filled. The current generating equipment not only satisfies most of the energy needs of the house but the excess energy can be dumped into the conventional electrical network that is obliged to buy it by law.
Another great advantage of current solar panels is their integration. There were two of our panels and they were placed on a metal support on the south side in a poorly integrated way. The current solar panels can be incorporated as a construction material in roofs, facades, windows, they can be outsourced, oriented, etc.
In Spain, where the hours of sunshine are abundant, the energy needs of houses, public buildings and companies should be covered for the most part by clean energies such as: solar panels, solar thermal, biomass, geothermal, wind, either independently or in combination to cover 100% of the needs. These actions together with the awareness of the reduction in electricity consumption can reduce the problems derived from climate change, produced by the use of polluting and dangerous energies.
